Ceremonial Handover of Accutron MR Injector in Curahuasi
Saarbrücken, August 13, 2025 – MEDTRON AG, a leading manufacturer of innovative contrast media injectors made in Germany, is making a strong statement of social responsibility: Diospi Suyana Hospital in Curahuasi, Peru, receives an Accutron MR injector to support the Siemens Healthineers MRI system MAGNETOM Free.Star.
The ceremonial inauguration of the MRI room at the mission hospital took place on August 12th. Markus Bappert, CEO of MEDTRON AG, and Walter Eichhorn, Sales Area Manager LATAM, personally attended the handover.
“As a member of a successful company, it’s important to me that we take social responsibility and share our success with those who need it most,” explains Markus Bappert. “That’s why I didn’t hesitate to commit when Prof. Uder from the University Hospital Erlangen approached us with the request to contribute an Accutron MR to the donation of the MAGNETOM Free.Star.”
The donation from MEDTRON AG includes not only the injector itself but also a fullservice contract and the necessary consumables to ensure continuous operation.

An Extraordinary Story Behind the Project
The creation and equipping of an MRI room at the Diospi Suyana Hospital is the result of an extraordinary story that began in the spring of 2022: Entrepreneur Dr. Stefan Uder from Ellwangen accidentally discovered the audiobook “Ich habe Gott gesehen” (I Have Seen God) by Diospi Suyana founder Dr. Klaus-Dieter John. Deeply moved by the life’s work of the missionary doctor, he decided to donate – a wish that took concrete shape only a year later.
In November 2023, his brother, Prof. Dr. med. Michael Uder, Director of the Radiology Institute at Erlangen University Hospital, along with two Siemens Healthineers engineers, was awarded the German Future Prize for the development of a novel low-field MRI scanner that requires less than one liter of helium. This technological breakthrough is crucial for use in developing countries.
From the outset, the prize money was intended for donation. Diospi Suyana was selected as the recipient – a hospital that provides medical excellence for the poorest populations in the Andes.
“It was clear that the prize money should serve a project benefiting not the wealthy, but those in need,” says Prof. Uder. “When we committed to providing the MRI for Diospi Suyana, I quickly decided that for the suitable contrast media injector, I wanted to rely on a trusted partner. Our longstanding, stable relationship with MEDTRON AG was key to my request.”
A Project with Sustainability
The donation initiative is an impressive collaboration of technological advancement, personal commitment, and corporate responsibility. The compact, low-helium MRI is ideal for remote regions with limited infrastructure. The Accutron MR donated by MEDTRON AG will significantly enhance diagnostic imaging at the mission hospital and open up new opportunities for the medical team on-site.
With this commitment, MEDTRON AG demonstrates that economic success and social contribution can go hand in hand. The company sees it as its responsibility to help where technology can save lives – regardless of geographic location or financial resources.
