26 Jun WE SUPPORT THE "FÖRDERVEREIN REGENBOGEN"
Together with entrepreneurs in Saarland, the Saarland Cancer Society founded the new Förderverein Regenbogen for children with parents with cancer in spring. As a long-term partner, we care deeply about all the Cancer Society's activities. For this reason, we are donating EUR 500 to the new support organisation.
The support organisation supports children whose worlds have suddenly been turned upside down as a result of a parent's cancer diagnosis. According to the Robert Koch Institute, approximately 50,000 children and adolescents face this fate each year. The Saarland Cancer Society responded and initiated the Rainbow Project in the first instance in 2019. To date, more than 90 families with children aged between 2 and 17 have been contacted and supported with consultations and experience-based learning initiatives. Everything on offer is free of charge for the affected families and funded via donations.
The necessity of this project can be seen in the increasing demand for support; for this reason, the Saarland Cancer Society, together with Thomas Bödeker (CEO of the newly founded support organisation) and other business representatives from Saarland, decided to form
an independent support organisation from the project at the start of 2023.
Sabine Rubai (Managing Director of the Saarland Cancer Society) on the Förderverein Regenbogen: „Unser Projekt Regenbogen ist einzigartig im Saarland. Es ist dem Team der Saarländischen Krebsgesellschaft seit Jahren eine Herzensangelegenheit, sich für Kinder und Jugendliche einzusetzen, deren Leben durch die Krebserkrankung von Mama oder Papa auf den Kopf gestellt wurde. Ob im Familien- und Freundeskreis jeder von uns kennt eine Person, die von der Diagnose Krebs getroffen wurde und weiß, wie wichtig jede Form der Unterstützung ist. Wir sind sehr dankbar, dass wir den Betroffenen mit Hilfe des neuen Fördervereins Regenbogen für Kinder krebskranker Eltern auch in Zukunft helfen, Hoffnung und Zuversicht spenden können.“
